A creative outlet, a passion project, a digital music scrapbook, a potentially embarrassing internet regret this time next year? Who can tell?
Bennett and I spend SO much time listening to music, talking about music, making music (IYKYK - Icey November & Cardi C), and arguing over our respective tastes. It occupies a lot of our mental space so we figured - why not take up MORE time?
Our mom always said she wished she could have gone back in time and made us learn instruments so we could start a band. It’s a little too late for that, so this blog is the next best thing.
We’re using this blog for a lot of different things we like to talk about, here are a couple of things you can expect:
Album Reviews
Music Marketing 101
Streaming Stats
Commentary on Industry Happenings
Discography Deep Dives
We went back and forth on what to name this blog for the longest time. Lots of cringe along the way. Lots of fighting. We ended on Pop Lobster? It’s kind of supposed to be a play on Rap Caviar, Perhaps a reference to The B-52’s song, and still remains to be cringe, oh well. We needed to name it something, and at least “Pop Lobster” is fun.
For our album reviews, we have some rules.
For each album - one song on the track list can have a 0 (worst song ever, it should never exist), and one 11 (perfect, most incredible song I’ve ever heard).
A perfect album in both our eyes would get a score of 20.
A perfect song would get a score of 22.
Been looking for more Carson Cooper content for my life🤞🏽
